The HR Management promotes a series of initiatives, described in synthesis below, aimed at creating and maintaining the highest level of physical, psychological and social wellbeing for its employees.
Guaber Campus
“Guaber Campus” is a project that was specifically set-up to promote internal training opportunities, professional growth and the sharing of corporate philosophies and values. Training plans are scheduled once a year taking into account corporate needs and after carefully reviewing the training needs of all business units.
In particular, Guaber Campus wishes to support the growth of the employees and Group by focusing on three main policies: globalization and improvement of skills and performances.
In 2008 each employee received on average 3.5 days of training per year.
The company encourages job rotation among functions and work experiences abroad in other companies of the Group.
Guaber supports project “Bollino OK stage” that guarantees stages aimed at enhancing professionalism and that are managed with a balanced and responsible approach.
Team Building
Once a year Guaber Campus organizes “Teambuilding”, a corporate regatta during which different teams challenge their skills both in Italy and in Europe.
This teambuilding activity aims at reinforcing and consolidating the collaboration between teams, which has always characterized Guaber, but has also gradually become a very popular event. The competition involves three days of intense sailing competitions among the Group managers. The vessels, which are named after the core brands of the Groups, explore crystal-clear water guided by teams that are selected among the business units following a transversal logic. The aim is to generate mutually shared experiences and encourage the principles of shared values and common objectives.
Work Life Balance
Guaber strongly encourages a balance between work and personal life as an essential basis to be able to work more happily and profitably.
For this reason, it has created a series of services for employees like nurseries for working mothers, flexible time-tables, a gym, discounts in shops that have special agreements with Guaber and the “Medardo Gualandi” recreational club to allow employees to get to know each other and relax.
The corporate break room has a space where it is possible to read daily newspapers and magazines, besides renting DVD movies in English.
Corporate Social Responsibility
GGuaber strongly believes that the development of its own business should integrate social, environmental and ethical principles, because these offer business opportunities while guaranteeing a long-term development of the company.
In order to achieve this target, Guaber has obtained the FSC (Forest Stewarship Council) certification for one of its leading products: ACCHIAPPACOLORE. This certification guarantees that the cellulose used to manufacture the product comes from forests that are correctly and responsibly managed.
Guaber was also one of the first Italian companies to create manufacturing plants with a zero impact.
Thanks to its partnership with Lifegate (a company specialized in corporate social responsibility projects) and Ecopolis, a product developed by the long-term rental company Arval, Guaber is able to calculate the annual emissions of CO2 of its fleet taking into accounts both the models and the actual mileage of each corporate vehicle.
The annual emissions of CO2 are compensated by planting new forests in Costa Rica.
Other initiatives include the partnership with ANT (a no-profit association that offers free home assistance to people suffering from cancer) and the sponsoring of local sports clubs and schools.
Employees can also request a refund of the anti-flue vaccine and attend a special customized course to stop smoking, which is organized by local health units.
